I guess having 3 audis @ le mans racing each other isnt bad to watch just a shame no closed roof cars like the bentley and the toyota, mercedes, nissan etc from a few years back no longer have cars simlar entering and cannot be entered privately due to the sophitication of the cars.
...do you wake up and try to be wrong? Or does it just, like, happen?

I'm liking it. Can't wait to see what times it can do especially how it compares to the hybrids. Diesel's an interesting choice, Neville Hay said on Radio Lm he thought a diesel would be on pole for the 24hrs within 5 years, could even be next year. All the other diesel gt racers have struggled to cope with the torque of the engine, the taurus kept eating it's clutches for example, got to assume Audi have overcome this though. Wonder how long its stints will be? The R8s engine was economical as it was.

it looks great but is it what sportscar racing needs? I really don't think so. Get some good privateer competitive racing going like we have had this year but now Audi will come back in and dominate again...
That's a fair point but we need some new LMP1 cars, it's what the prototype classes have been lacking over the last few years and they're finally arriving. Audi might have it to themselves for now but will soon will joined by Peugeot and Porsche(if their P2 does become a P1) and asside from the works teams we have the new Lola for next year, and a Zytek for 07 so the future looks pretty good imo.

supposedly two laps longer at Le Mans.. which is a lot
Motaworld- 12-13-2005
Yeah, 3 or 4 less stops over the 24hrs. That's some advantage.

Sounds like it could be very dominant, if it's fast and reliable.
As for the privateer thing... well yeah in a way, but it's the manufacturers who build these things originally, where do the privateers get them from?
Do we really want to see a load of customer R8s at Le Mans for the next 3 or 5 years. I've seen that for 3 years, lets move on.

This is what Ellis was refering to I think. It may be your opinion but it is wrong. Last two Le Mans races have been won by private entries(Champion and Goh running the R8 themselves). In fact most of the grid were private entries, Rollcentre, Racing for Holland, Creation, Jota, Champion, Oreca, I could go on...

not to mention lmp2, gt1 or gt2 lol.
Mike H- 12-14-2005
And the best fight was probably in GT1, which was between works entries...
