Im guessing if we arrive early afternoon (and my guess is most will) we could probably ring up and book the outdoor track Saturday then maybe (gav probably mentioned that above, I can't be arsed to re-read it tongue.gif) as the deposit wouldn't be a problem then as we'd know for sure???

Gav- 08-02-2005
Yeah - like I said though, that's risky in that if it's unavailable, we might be a bit stuck for things to do... but also like I said, we could just watch the Speedway or something instead.

There's always something to do.

Need Graham to tell us whether he's booked the indoor track or not basically... still waiting...

Glyn- 08-02-2005
If the field is big enough we could do a time trail in Grahams car or something tongue.gif

villarule- 08-02-2005
Cant we do that aswell, im up for that tongue.gif

Or could we use the special nova laugh.gif

Just got a call from Graham, who's asked the indoor track for prices.

They run an "Le Mans" style race, which put simply is a 2 hour race with 2 teams of 5 drivers, plus other teams. We even get our own pitboard (w00t). My only concern is that 2 hours with 5 drivers per car isn't an awful lot of running time per driver, but it's VTR in reality, so people might prefer that one [/me gets KillNR2003 ready]. This doesn't require booking.

They also run a Grand Prix, or "Ironman" as they call it. At a guess, this will be a 15min+ practise session, with either 1 45min race, or more likely 2 races of about 20min. We could have booked this, but the deposit was £300... we can phone up on the day though, and if available, go for it then.

Last of all, there's an Arrive and Drive, which as the name suggests, is simply a mocked-up race, with timing, most likely no practise, and is probably a bit shorter.

Alternatively, we can phone up the outdoor track on the day, and book the slot after 8pm ish, without a deposit, if it's available, and just run that (either GP or A&D).

***

Rough prices:
Indoor

Le Mans: £35 per head
Grand Prix: £45
Arrive & Drive: £25

Outdoor
Grand Prix: £40-45
Arrive and Drive: £20-25 IIRC.

If any prices are a little steep for anyone, I'm sure something can be done wink.gif wink.gif

The best thing is, we don't have to decide until maybe a couple of days before we go, even on the day, but if people can post what they think, it'll help get an idea of what people feel will be best.

To me this sounds the best. (Prefer the 1hr 45min myself, and i know i can easily cope with it). What does others think?

Gav- 08-03-2005
Agreed, but I'd prefer the GP on the outdoor track, if it's available.

Ellis- 08-03-2005
Im not fussed, indoor or outdoor. Then indoor one (if its the one we raced last time) was great. I love the bump in the braking zone biggrin.gif But if its outdoor then equally cool

Ianwoollam- 08-03-2005
Who are you quoting Ian?

Glyn- 08-03-2005
Personally I'd rather do an every man for himself in a Grand Prix style event. Both look great though, so I'm not really fussed.

How about we just make a decision on the day, depending on weather and availability etc?

villarule- 08-03-2005
tbh, the mere fact of driving a kart excites me, never mind what race format tongue.gif

I just had a thought though, I have had to book the 4th and 5th of september off, and Im not going to give a definate yes or no before I get paid, which is about two weeks I think, and it might be too late to book the weekend off then sad.gif

Ellis- 08-03-2005
Do what i did for Le Mans. dont turn up and when your boss phones you do this

"Can you come into work today?"
"no"
"why not?"
"because im not in the country"
"...oh"

villarule- 08-03-2005
LMAO!

After ive been in the job for a month..yea, that'll go down well tongue.gif

Graham- 08-17-2005
update time, and as usual i start with bad news im affraid sad.gif

i went to that campsite and i was stunned, 10/10 it looked stunning and it even had an on site pub tongue.gif but due to problems in the past with tent pitchers they only let family groups to stay in tents sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif which is such a shame.

HOWEVER because im such nice chap i have a solution, there another campsite just off the A1 and they DO allow tent pitchers and they have plenty of space for our dates biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

its not as nice to look at and theres not much space, but its very quiet and it does have a VERY VERY clean and tidy shower and toilet area. the downside is though its £15 a night per pitch but the guy said he would do it for £10 a night if that helps

Gav- 08-17-2005
Even then, I'm sure something can be found if that campsite is unavailable for some reason wink.gif

Cheers Graham smile.gif
