See now why couldn't you say that in French, they might have let you off!

"You were doing 182kph"

"err yeah, it handles a bit weird when it's full"

six degrees- 10-22-2005

Not forgetting:

"Hi, I chased you down this tunnel because you have a gorgeous arse, and you appear to be on the phone, which means you must have a phone number... can I have it?"

I'm seriously considering joining you guys ohmy.gif tongue.gif

I've not done the camping thing since my Cub scouting days many, many moons ago huh.gif
What are the essentials that I would need to bring?

J i m- 10-22-2005
Tent
sleeping bag,
Stove, cooking pots, pans

Only really need to take the essentials, a lot of stuff you can pick up cheaply at the Carefour.

Apeman- 10-22-2005
ooo, its getting crowded in the AlphaLeMans camp site biggrin.gif tongue.gif

a ride , tent, sleeping bag, umbrella, rain clothing etc

tent light or flashlight...

btw, does everyone have a tent? would be a bit unfair to let someone sleep outside

J i m- 10-22-2005
Pete has two.

One uber tent with two sleeping quarters. Nick will probably lodge in that one, and one other tent that I borrowed last time.

So if you ask him nicely...

Or just get your own bleeding tent! dry.gif tongue.gif laugh.gif

So that's a current list of 14 with 8 pretty much decided random wtfness jockeys travelling from the uk, 3 almost for peeps in mainland Europe very likely to come, and 3 slowly converting to the joys, and considering it.

Obviously the most important things to bring are, yourselves with a essentials list of:
Passport, TravelInsurace, E-111 (or equivalent health insurance thing)
Spending money (be prepared to contribute to fuel/shopping bills)
Tent
Sleeping Bag (+/- floormat/air mattress to your taste)
Camping Stove + camping pots, cutterly
Folding chair (I aint playing no musical chairs fool...)
Clothes, obviously
Toileties (although we may only have a toilet and a tap)
Suncream + essential paracetamol etc
Camera (+/- laptop)
Torch (avec batteries)

Now.. You might want to bring some Pasta type packets to cook on stoves, although worry not it is not the end of the world if you don't. There is a pretty good HyperMarket that we will be storming that sells everything from food, to electronics, clothes, cooking ultensils, garden furniture to car oil. Failing that on the 1st evening there's always MacDonalds on the Mulsanne.

I think very worth while considering between us, a generator to power a coolerbox/car fridge to keep essential foods cool (meats, cheese etc not forgetting the most important of all BEER!!

Also for shade purposes, plenty of gazebo's maybe even as many as 4 (all aragned into a uber AlphaF1 unit), perhapps it would also be sensible to attach sheets to many of the sides to ensure good shade. It was really really bakingly bright at times last time. Also maybe a paddling pool, althoguh we'd be able to get something like that at the Hypermarket, could serve dual purpose of keeping both beer and bodies cool... for a bit.

me and kris wont need a tent, we've got a huge tent with 3 sleeping quarters tongue.gif so we've got enough room for ourselves tongue.gif so if someone cant get a tent from anyone, he (or she? biggrin.gif) we've got some extra room smile.gif

how much does the beer cost there? if its more expensive we need to buy it here and smuggle it across the borders ph34r.gif tongue.gif

Mike H- 10-23-2005
Its cheap.

You only need to bring the bare essentials of food, frying steak, burgers, sausages etc. is much more fun than eating dehydrated pasta.

...what do you mean, you put boiling water in it?!

ClarkF1- 10-23-2005
E-111s won't be valid after January.

You need to apply for the new equivalent European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).

The easiest way to do it if you're in the UK is to go to www.ehic.org.uk and apply online. It takes 7 days to come through and fits snugly in the wallet so you don't have to worry about bits of paper.

I'll nick my sister's tent and my friend's air mattress.

By the way, where do you get avec batteries from? I can only find AA and AAA wink.gif

Yes, well spotted.

But I ment in general, and the equivalent, which I have already got, as will Pete and Mike probably with their regular circuit hoping.

There is one notable thing which I left from my list, Folding chairs. No one particlary wants to have to sit on the ground all the time, and I don't fancy having to play musical chairs at all in that heat. So everyone bring your own tongue.gif

Food etc really is very reasonable at the carefour hyper market. Imo it is really pointless on filing your car up with beer, food etc and then discovering you have no where to put any thing else, like your tents, stoves etc.

Plus the trips to the hypermarket are more than capable of provoking some random expletive moments... such as this years ****ing hell John!!... OI!!111

I'll add folding chair to my list.
