The start was done in three groups, each with about 70 cars, with several minutes between each group, so at the time the last car of the last group crossed the line the first car of the first group was already at the Karussell.

#46 was in the pits but is rapidly closing in on the #77 Viper. The #1 and #2 BMW's are working their way up again, the #44 seems slightly off pace and the #6 Turbo Porsche is finally out on the track, albeit slow (currently 198th and 10 laps down).

There was an update on the weather forecast for the night, they expect temperatures to drop to about -3 C. Should be interesting for the drivers, what with the track being wet.

Both BMW's have passed the #77 Viper, #40 keeps gaining places

there are a lot of professional names up there, i was under the impression that it was a bit of a jolly in the eifel mountains

During the night #77 lost time with a broken suspension, #1 had problems with the clutch. #46 went out with a destroyed engine, shame.

Klaus Ludwig said in an interview he nearly hit a marshal ("I missed him by two millimetres, he appeared on the track like a ghost"). He was visibly shaken.

#44 somewhere out on the track and unable to move. On the #10 car the engine's gone.
The 46 Manthey Porsche is back, they spent 70 minutes getting the car back to the pits and changing the engine. Just had a crash near Metzgesfeld but keep moving. Now 11th, 11 laps down.

The #6 Alzen Turbo Porsche that had lost almost two hours at the start is already back in 15th place. Up to 14th as I type this.

EDIT: On further inspection (

) it appears as if Schoysman crashed the #44 at Hatzenbach.
