You've heard of NASCAR I assume? And Dragracing if you want to be extreme. And World record speed attempts if you like being ultra extreme Love Bathurst. Love endurance. Love the V8s. Hope I get to catch some of this on Motors. -------------------- |

Don't forget to mention Craig Lowndes either mate. He's looking pretty quick, and is the form driver of the series at the moment. Ivan Muller is his driver partner.
As long as a FORD wins I'm happy. -------------------- ![]() TOUCHED BY THE HAND OF GOD - THIS IS HONDA'S NEW 80 MILLION DOLLAR MAN |

Ive never really seen this race, though Ive always wanted to. Bathurst is probably in my top 3 favourite tracks in the world, and those V8 cars are beasts!
Is it over all the weekend or just sat or sun? Im at work all day both days, maybe I can get my dad to record some for me. -------------------- ![]() |

I hope I can get to see some footage of this sometime, Bathurst is an awesome track, and endurance racing rules.

V8s apparently hit 188mph at Shaghai. NASCAR (all 3 series) do average laps faster than that at Daytona, Talladega, Lowes, Atlanta, Kansas, Atlanta, Michigan, and California to name a few

Dunno what it is about Bathurst but it's one of the most magical motorsport events there is. The V8 championship proper can be a bit of a bore at times but Bathurst is always amazing. I think the DJR cars are a long shot but it could finally be Ford's year. Lowndes would be my bet but Ambrose and Ingall will be strong. It'd be great to see Seton take it though, and he's off to a positive start qualifying in the Top 10. Skaife/Kelly will be Holden's best bet obviously but I hate those guys and hope they fail. Murph will have the pace but I'm expecting that Supercheap thing to fall apart quite quickly as it has done all year. Great work by Jason Richards to make the shoot-out and amazing how much pace Gentleman Jim still has considering all his contemporaries have long since flown the coup.

Is there a site that streams the race, or at least has radio or live timing? There's a fancy live-video-with-a-million-extras option on v8supercars.com.au but that's only for BigPond users.

Results of the Top-10 Shootout:
It was a tough session with track dry apart from a couple of corners at the top. First couple went out on wet tyres as no one new how much grip there'd be, but it soon became obvious that dry tyres were the best option. Ingall binned it in the Chase and Jason Richards went off there as well but recovered. Murphy complained it was his "worst ever lap of Bathurst" but still came in fastest of the Holdens. Lowndes and Ambrose both looked very solid though and will be setting the pace tomorrow. Both have weak co-drivers (this is an inexplicable decision to me) so may fall behind the chasing Holden's in the second stint. The Ford co-driver situaion is bizarre. Why Lowndes wouldn't go with the V8 experienced Ellery (who isn't going to win by himself but will keep the car on pace and intact) and instead go with Muller who is out of his comfort zone beats me. |

Final results.
Great effort by Skaife. Kept it together while his rivals were busy taking themselves and each other out. Only six cars on the lead 2 laps shows how much carnage there was this time! Drivers of the Day without doubt going to the Jason Richards/Jamie Whincup combo. Moved steadily forward all day long - great effort by their team on fuel economy as well. Skaife just had too much experience in the charge to the finish though - he wasn't going to make a mistake. Lowndes in his own words is a "tosser". Tried to win it in the first 30 laps. Really rookie-type mistake from him. One of defining moments of this race unfortunetly will be Murphy and Ambrose screaming into each others faces in the middle of the track after taking each other out with 18 laps to go. No love lost between those two that's for sure. The crash basically gifted Skaife the win from that point with only Jason Richards left to challenge. |
